China Securities Opens Regional Office at DIFC

China Securities opens a DIFC office, strengthening Chinese-UAE capital market links as Chinese banks represent 30% of DIFC assets.

China Securities has announced the opening of a regional office at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), having secured a licence from the DIFC Authority.

This development marks a significant addition to the growing presence of Chinese investment banks in the DIFC, joining five of the largest Chinese banks, which collectively represent over 30% of the centre’s total assets.

The Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, Bank of Communications, China Construction Bank, and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) reside in DIFC.

Chinese-Emirati Capital

Headquartered in Beijing, China Securities is a publicly listed firm and a notable player in investment banking, asset management and capital markets.

The establishment of a DIFC office will enable the bank to better engage with clients, investors and financial institutions in the region, enhancing connectivity between Chinese, UAE and international capital markets.

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) has also granted China Securities the necessary authorisation to operate within the jurisdiction. This move reinforces Dubai’s status as a key hub for investment flows between Asia and the Middle East, further solidifying its financial ecosystem.

DIFC Growth

The presence of China’s major banks, which play a crucial role in the DIFC’s Banking and Capital Markets sector, underscores the emirate’s appeal to financial services firms.

Dubai was recently recognised as the leading global location for fintech in the Global Financial Centres Index, being the sole representative from the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region within the global top ten.

DIFC Registrations

The number of registered companies at DIFC surpassed 10,000 for the first time, reflecting a 30% increase in active companies year-on-year during the first half of 2026.

Once operational, the new bank will adhere to the regulatory framework established by ADGM and will be overseen by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA).

The bank will also meet the regulatory requirements in both the UAE and Jordan although the launch remains contingent on obtaining all necessary official approvals.
