Elon Musk’s Boring Company has partnered with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to explore the development of the Dubai Loop, an underground transit system designed to ease congestion and connect key areas of the city.
Announced at the World Government Summit, the project will span 17 kilometres, include 11 stations, and have the capacity to transport over 20,000 passengers per hour. Musk described the system as a “wormhole” for seamless citywide travel.
Tunnels, he noted, offer advantages over aerial transport options like flying cars, as they are unaffected by weather, quieter, and safer.
The project builds on The Boring Company’s Las Vegas Loop, though specific details on its implementation in Dubai have yet to be disclosed. The collaboration marks a significant step toward advancing urban mobility in the region.
