The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) and the Dubai Land Department have expanded their strategic partnership to enhance tax compliance for real estate and commercial land transactions in the emirate, using digital solutions to streamline the process.

The partnership has entered its first phase, involving electronic data sharing between the two entities. Further digital features are under development and will be announced soon, according to an official statement made during GITEX Global 2024.

This initiative aims to ensure efficient VAT collection on real estate and commercial land sales by integrating tax procedures with real estate transaction systems. The process includes classifying services, property types, and transaction parties, as well as aligning real estate operations with the FTA’s digital platforms.

Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director-General of the FTA, said, “Our collaboration with the Dubai Land Department establishes a clear framework for enhancing compliance in real estate transactions. By leveraging digital solutions, we are streamlining tax processes, saving time and resources while ensuring transparency. This partnership strengthens Dubai’s position as a leader in digital governance.”

Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director-General of the Dubai Land Department, emphasised the importance of digital collaboration. “In Dubai’s digital transformation journey, cooperation among government entities is crucial. Our partnership with the FTA ensures a seamless integration of digital systems, enhancing tax compliance and simplifying processes for all stakeholders in the real estate sector.”

The initiative includes:

  • Joint awareness campaigns aimed at promoting tax compliance in the real estate community.
  • Training sessions.
  • Coordinated projects to foster alignment between the FTA and Dubai Land Department.

Both entities plan to continue expanding their efforts to ensure seamless and compliant real estate transactions in line with Dubai’s economic goals.
