Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has introduced spatial banking on Apple Vision Pro, becoming the first bank in the UAE to offer its banking app on Apple’s mixed reality operating system, VisionOS.

ADIB’s spatial banking utilises Apple Vision Pro’s advanced features, allowing customers to manage their finances in an immersive 3D environment. Users can interact with their accounts through eye-tracking, hand gestures, and voice commands, eliminating the need for traditional screens. The app enables viewing of accounts, cards, and financing in a 360-degree display, real-time tracking of rewards and balances, and access to ADIB TV for financial content.

“Digital banking is evolving rapidly, and ADIB is committed to pioneering new experiences that go beyond conventional banking channels,” said Fernando Plaza, ADIB’s Chief Digital Officer.

This development follows ADIB’s recent launch of the Money Management Tracker, a personal finance management tool within its mobile app designed to enhance customers’ financial oversight. The tracker offers transaction categorisation, budgeting tools, and spending insights.

ADIB’s move mirrors global trends, with institutions like the UK’s NatWest also adopting Apple Vision Pro for their banking services. In July 2024, NatWest announced its banking app’s availability on VisionOS, providing customers with an immersive banking experience controlled by eye movements, hand gestures, and voice commands.

Integrating banking services with mixed reality platforms like Apple Vision Pro signifies a broader shift in the financial industry towards immersive digital experiences. By adopting such technologies, banks aim to offer more interactive and intuitive services, enhancing customer engagement and satisfaction.
