The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has introduced an “Instant Licence” service to foster investment and attract investors to the emirate.

This initiative, approved by the Sharjah Executive Council, allows investors and entrepreneurs to obtain a commercial licence immediately, without needing to attach the Memorandum of Association or a signed lease contract in the first year.

The new licence enables businesses to start operations right away, streamlining procedures, shortening the customer journey, and boosting economic growth in Sharjah.

The “Instant Licence” can be issued within one working day and applies to all office activities not requiring additional authority approvals, with a maximum of three employees per licence. This licence type bypasses the usual procedures required for regular licences.

This service assists investors in operating their businesses during the first year, with special licensing requirements to be fulfilled in the second year. It targets new investors and businesses looking to expand into specific activities, enhancing Sharjah’s competitiveness.

SEDD Chairman Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud emphasised that the department continuously develops a legislative and regulatory environment to boost business growth, aligned with the directives of Sharjah’s leadership.

The “Instant Licence” service is part of SEDD’s strategy to support economic diversification and sustainable growth, facilitating business setup and reinforcing Sharjah’s status as a global investment hub.
