Sam Gidoomal joins the Finance Middle East Awards 2025 jury panel

Nominations for the Finance Middle East Awards will close on Friday, August 1, 2025.

Sam Gidoomal, Managing Director, Portfolio Advisory Group at Alvarez & Marsal, has been revealed as a member of the illustrious jury panel of the Finance Middle East Awards 2025.

Gidoomal leads A&M’s Financial Services practice in the Middle East and is based in Dubai. He brings more than 25 years of experience in banking, asset quality, restructuring and non-performing loan management.

Gidoomal’s primary areas of concentration include advising banks on the disposal of or otherwise optimising recovery outcomes from their distressed and non-performing loan books and advising international funds on the acquisition and servicing of distressed asset portfolios. He has worked with a broad spectrum of financial clients across a range of industries, including banking, hedge funds, private equity and private family offices.

Most recently, Gidoomal completed the successful sale of a corporate NPL portfolio on behalf of the largest bank in the UAE to an international hedge fund, representing only the second trade of its kind in the GCC.

This comes after he led and structured the first NPL transaction on behalf of a D-SIB in the UAE.

Prior to that, Gidoomal spent four years advising and taking a bank role in the Special Assets and Remedial division of a European bank, focusing on the management and recovery of distressed loans within the corporate loan book. This included both in-house workout solutions and structuring and selling portfolios of loans to international hedge funds. Before that, Gidoomal spent 20 years working in the banking sector with roles including corporate loan origination, private equity, leveraged finance, workout and distressed asset management across both loan and equity asset classes.
