Dubai welcomes GISEC Global 2026, the largest cybersecurity event in the Middle East and Africa, opening tomorrow at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City. This year’s edition comes at a critical juncture where concerns over artificial intelligence, geopolitical tensions, and sophisticated cyber attacks on vital infrastructure have created an urgent need for enhanced international collaboration in cybersecurity.
The 15th iteration of GISEC Global underscores Dubai’s growing significance as a central platform for cybersecurity discussions, bringing together stakeholders who are navigating a rapidly evolving threat landscape.
Under the theme “Cyber First: The New Digital Order”, the event is being hosted by the UAE Cyber Security Council, with the Dubai Electronic Security Center acting as the official Government Cybersecurity Partner, supported by additional government entities including the Ministry of Interior and Dubai Police.
Throughout the event, running until September 18, participants from 182 countries will convene to address pressing issues affecting cyber resilience. A notable highlight is the Cyber First Global Summit, featuring high-ranking officials and industry CEOs, which will focus on the interdependence between cybersecurity, economic stability, and national security. This summit aims to lay the groundwork for creating cyber-first economies that require secure digital infrastructures and technological sovereignty for sustained resilience.
Discussions will encompass various evolving challenges, particularly in the realm of AI-driven cybercrime. Reports indicate that 60 per cent of ransomware campaigns are powered by AI, with sophisticated malware and deepfakes further complicating the threat landscape. As enterprises seek to understand the ramifications of these advancements, GISEC will showcase expert insights, including a keynote address addressing deepfakes and digital impersonation, featuring notable actor Michael Kelly.
In addition to addressing technology and threats, GISEC Global 2026 will highlight the importance of talent development within the cybersecurity sector. Initiatives such as Women in Cyber and the Dubai Cyber Challenge will foster new talent and enhance community engagement in cyber defence.
As nations adapt to the fragmented and complex digital environment influenced by geopolitical tensions, GISEC Global aims to further solidify Dubai’s role as a pivotal hub for innovation, collaboration, and strategic resilience in cybersecurity.
