Emirates Resumes Limited Schedule Following Drone Oil Tank Incident

Emirates, resumes limited schedule from DXB following projectile alerts in the early hours of Tuesday, following a spate of drone incidents yesterday.

The world’s largest international airline, Emirates, has resumed a limited schedule from Dubai International Airport following projectile alerts in the early hours of Tuesday, following a spate of drone incidents yesterday.

Emirates countered a significant disruption in its operations following an Iranian drone strike on a fuel depot near Dubai International Airport on Monday.

Although the attack was swiftly managed and resulted in no injuries, it led to the suspension of flights and halted traffic on crucial road and tunnel links to the airport.

In response, some flights were redirected to Al Maktoum International Airport.

Emirates have flights departing this morning following a wave of cancellations early this morning citing missile and UAV alerts.

The operational setback comes at a time when the airline was sought to rebuild its expansive network, previously serving up to 120 destinations.

Aviation Cancellation

Aviation analytics from Cirium indicates that the carrier has faced considerable cancellations, with 1,581 flights grounded out of 2,796 scheduled since the onset of the conflict.

This disruption is estimated to have impacted approximately 644,133 seats, calculated based on an average load factor of 80% and an average of 242 seats per flight, excluding flights within the Middle East region.

The ramifications of this incident extend beyond immediate operational challenges, raising concerns about the broader implications for Dubai’s tourism and aviation sector, particularly as hotels are cutting rates at peak holiday time.
