Saudi Aramco is acquiring a 49% stake in state-backed artificial intelligence company Humain, committing cash and digital assets as the Saudi technology firm expands its infrastructure to meet growing demand for AI computing capacity.
PIF ownership
The Public Investment Fund (PIF), Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, will retain the remaining 51 per cent stake according to a joint statement issued on Sunday.
Aramco, a cornerstone of the Saudi economy, has been planning a significant minority investment in Humain for at least a year. The firm was launched in May 2025 as part of the kingdom’s efforts to develop its artificial intelligence capabilities.
“The transaction will further accelerate Humain’s growth and advance its full range of AI capabilities globally, with PIF and Aramco contributing AI assets, capabilities, and talent,” the statement said.
Humain expansion
The investment will be made through an Aramco wholly owned subsidiary and is intended to support Humain’s expansion to meet growing regional and international demand for AI computing capacity.
Humain plans to deploy three gigawatts of AI data centre capacity by 2030. Its operations also encompass infrastructure and cloud platforms, alongside the development of an Arabic-language large language model (LLM).
Aramco contribution
Aramco, one of the world’s largest companies by market capitalisation, will contribute approximately SAR 9.9B ($2.6B) to Humain this year alongside AI, computing and digital assets.
Amin H. Nasser, Aramco President and CEO, said artificial intelligence had helped the oil major generate $11.3B in technology-related value since 2023.
