Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Coin Investment LLC (EmCoin) has received the first virtual asset licence issued by the UAE’s Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), allowing it to offer regulated digital asset services across the country.

The licence positions EmCoin to launch an investment platform combining digital assets with traditional finance. The firm plans to allow users to trade virtual assets, invest in local and international equities, buy commodities, and access managed portfolios through a single mobile application.

The SCA’s regulatory approval also enables EmCoin to offer compliant Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs), aiming to open new capital-raising channels for businesses and widen investor access.

According to EmCoin, the platform will integrate asset classes that are typically available across multiple providers. The company stated that the offering will be governed by UAE financial regulations, addressing ongoing market concerns regarding compliance, custody, and investor protections.

The move comes amid a broader effort by the UAE to establish a structured legal framework for digital assets. The country has introduced federal-level rules for virtual asset service providers, with the SCA overseeing activities outside financial free zones such as ADGM and DIFC.
