Disney’s CEO confirmed the waterfront location of the upcoming Disneyland Abu Dhabi park in a move that has excited investors and local enthusiasts.

Iger’s instagram post showed the Disney CEO walking alongside Yas Island in Yas North as previously rumoured. In one of the two shared photographs on Instagram, a small jetty can be found in the background.

The park is expected to open between 2030 and 2032. Disneyland is being developed by Miral than Disney: a local Emirati backed firm that owns Ferrari World, the Warner Bros indoor park, and the upcoming Harry Potter park in Abu Dhabi.

Miral chief executive Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi also said in May last year that Yas Island would likely be “upgraded” to accommodate the park.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, described it as a “whole new world of imagination” and “an experience that will inspire generations across the region and the world”

The UAE’s first stand-alone Disney Store opened at Yas Mall in March. It was followed shortly by a flagship shop in Dubai Mall.
