The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has introduced measures allowing companies registered in other UAE emirates and their free zones to establish branches in Abu Dhabi without requiring physical premises for the first year. This initiative exempts 1,200 economic activities across various sectors from the physical premises requirement during the initial year of their licence.
Mohammed Munif Al Mansouri, Acting Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Registration and Licensing Authority, stated, “We are forging ahead with our efforts to support Abu Dhabi’s transition to a smart, diversified, and sustainable economy through various initiatives to enable the business sector to benefit from ample and promising opportunities in the emirate.”
These measures aim to streamline business processes and provide firms easier access to opportunities within Abu Dhabi’s expanding economy. The initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi’s ongoing economic diversification efforts, which have seen non-oil sectors contribute 54% to the emirate’s GDP in the third quarter of 2024.
Companies can apply for a new branch licence in Abu Dhabi through the unified Abu Dhabi Government Services digital platform, TAMM. The process involves submitting necessary documents, obtaining approvals, and paying fees to receive the economic licence upon acceptance.
This development reflects Abu Dhabi’s commitment to fostering a conducive investment climate and solidifying its position as a hub for investment and growth.
