Oman’s Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) is advancing plans to create four new industrial cities as part of the five-year development plan covering 2026 to 2030.

This initiative aims to broaden industrial investment beyond the current economic centres within the Sultanate.

The designated locations for these new industrial cities are Al Suwaiq in North Al Batinah, Al Mudhaibi in North Al Sharqiyah, Thumrait in Dhofar, and Mudhaffar in Musandam.

Oman Expansion

This expansion aligns with the economic and development goals outlined in Oman Vision 2040, particularly in enhancing development across various governorates, fostering sustainable urban areas, and bolstering economic diversification efforts.

The General Manager of Marketing and Commercial Affairs at Madayn, who also serves as the official spokesperson, indicated that these projects are crafted to improve Oman’s investment landscape and encourage sustainable economic growth.

Industrial Zones

The forthcoming industrial zones will be equipped with modern infrastructure and comprehensive logistics services designed to attract investments and facilitate industrial activities.

In selecting sites for these new developments, Madayn considers various factors, including their potential to contribute to geographically balanced development and their capacity to enhance the competitiveness of specific governorates.

Private Sector Involvement

The initiative is also expected to elevate private sector involvement in the economy while creating an appealing labour market for both Omani nationals and specialised professionals.

Madayn emphasised that its development strategy prioritises the sustainable utilisation of natural resources, supporting Oman’s efforts to diversify its economic base and establish competitive industrial hubs nationwide.
