Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has appointed Mohammed Al-Sowaidi as CEO following HE Mansoor Ebrahim Al-Mahmoud’s transition to Minister of Public Health. Al-Sowaidi, who joined QIA in 2010, has led investments across TMT, Industrials, and Private Equity. He previously headed QIA’s New York office and recently served as Chief Investment Officer, Americas.

Al-Sowaidi takes on the CEO role with immediate effect, as confirmed by a statement from Qatar’s emir. According to Reuters, at the Qatar Economic Forum in May, Al-Sowaidi outlined QIA’s priorities as focusing on long-term investments aligned with digitalisation, decarbonisation, sustainability and inclusivity, adding that collaborating with like-minded shareholders remains essential for the fund’s approach.
