Dubai’s toll gate operator, Salik, has announced its first expansion beyond the Emirate of Dubai by partnering with Parkonic, the UAE’s largest private sector parking operator. This five-year agreement will integrate Salik’s eWallet system into Parkonic’s 107 existing locations across the UAE, encompassing approximately 135,000 parking spaces. Implementation is expected in the first quarter of 2025.

Under the terms of the partnership, Parkonic will promote Salik’s eWallet as the preferred payment method for its customers at all current and future locations. In return, Salik will receive a percentage of the parking fees processed through its eWallet system, contributing to the company’s ancillary revenue streams.

This collaboration aligns with Salik’s strategy to leverage its technology platform beyond tolling operations. It aims to enhance smart city infrastructure by providing streamlined and secure parking payment solutions across the UAE.

“Our strategic partnership with Parkonic will facilitate advanced parking payment solutions across approximately 135,000 spaces and 107 locations in the UAE, and marks the first time Salik has expanded beyond the Emirate of Dubai,” said Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad, CEO of Salik. “Not only will this bolster the UAE’s smart city infrastructure, enabling easy, secure and quick access to parking services across the country, but it further accelerates the growth of Salik’s ancillary revenues, a key component of our corporate strategy, with seamless parking solutions an important step in leveraging our unique technology platform beyond the core tolling business.”

This move follows Salik’s recent initiatives to diversify its services, including managing the parking system at Dubai Mall, which is expected to be operational by the third quarter of 2024.

“By aligning our technologies and expertise, we are setting a new benchmark for convenience, efficiency, and sustainability in the region,” said Imad Alameddine, CEO of Parkonic. “This collaboration is not just about creating better mobility solutions—it’s about empowering communities, enhancing urban living, and taking a part in the UAE’s ambition to become a global leader in smart city initiatives.
