UAE boasts over 1.5 million registered trade licenses

The UAE has been promoting a shift towards a knowledge and innovation-based economic model.

The UAE has more than 1.5 million registered trade licences and a broad range of economic activities, the Economic Integration Committee revealed in its latest meeting.

The committee convened its seventh meeting for 2024, chaired by Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy. The gathering was attended by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Alia Abdullah Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, as well as representatives of local economic development departments in all seven emirates.

During the session, the Committee examined the progress of various economic legislations aimed at enhancing the UAE’s business environment and promoting a shift towards a knowledge and innovation-based economic model.

The meeting also addressed recommendations from the previous gathering, focusing on telemarketing activities and consumer rights protection.

Minister Bin Touq emphasised the UAE’s success in establishing itself as a global hub for diverse economic activities, attributing this achievement to visionary leadership, ongoing development, and flexible economic policies. These efforts align with the nation’s ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision, aiming to lead in proactive legislation for emerging economic sectors.

The Committee also reviewed the Ministry of Economy’s performance in the Government Data Maturity Index, where it scored an impressive 95.7%. This score highlights the Ministry’s commitment to best practices in data management, supporting strategic decision-making and the sustainability of SMEs.
