The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has announced expanded collaboration with 14 government entities to strengthen the Saudi Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program. The initiative aims to enhance inter-agency cooperation, provide new incentives to importers and exporters, and improve global supply chain security.

The program offers administrative, procedural, and financial benefits across three main categories for importers and exporters, with a fourth category specifically for logistics service providers, including customs brokers and freight forwarders.

The expanded AEO Program is a key element in advancing the logistics sector in Saudi Arabia, focusing on trade facilitation, supply chain efficiency, and streamlined import and export procedures. ZATCA emphasised that the initiative aligns with international best practices and enhances market access for Saudi businesses by adhering to global standards.

Since its inception in 2018, the Saudi AEO Program has grown to include over 550 commercial establishments. It is part of a global network of AEO programs recognised in 80 countries and aligned with World Customs Organization (WCO) standards for trade security and facilitation.

The program’s mutual recognition agreements with other nations enhance international trade cooperation by offering reciprocal benefits to commercial establishments operating under the AEO framework.

ZATCA highlighted that information on eligibility and the benefits of joining the AEO Program is available through its official website, where importers, exporters, customs agents, and freight forwarders can access relevant guidelines and conditions.
