Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) has officially resumed construction of the Jeddah Tower, which is planned to exceed 1,000 meters in height, aiming to become the world’s tallest building.

The project is managed by Jeddah Economic Company in collaboration with architects Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture. The tower is set to feature luxury residences, commercial spaces, a Four Seasons hotel, and an observation deck overlooking the city and the Red Sea.

Construction had been halted since January 2018, when the tower was approximately one-third complete. The delay was due to labour issues with a contractor following the 2017-2019 Saudi Arabian purge. In September 2023, Jeddah Economic Company issued a request for proposals to complete the construction, and by May 2024, the architect confirmed that construction had resumed, with an estimated completion date between 2028 and 2029.
