The UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has mandated that all natural persons conducting business activities with annual turnovers exceeding Dh1 million must register for corporate tax by March 31, 2025. Failure to comply will result in a penalty of Dh10,000.
The FTA defines a ‘natural person’ as any individual engaged in business activities within the UAE, including sole proprietors and individual partners in joint ventures. For those whose revenues surpassed Dh1 million by July 31, 2024, the registration deadline is March 31, 2025, with corporate tax returns due by September 30, 2025.
Existing VAT or Excise Tax registrants can complete their corporate tax registration through the EmaraTax platform, the UAE’s digital tax services provider. New users can create an account on EmaraTax to proceed with their registration.
The FTA encourages all relevant individuals to familiarise themselves with the corporate tax legislation and available guidance to ensure compliance.
