Amir Ahmad, Partner, at Reed Smith, was revealed as a member of the illustrious jury panel judging the inaugural edition of the Finance Middle East Awards set to take place on May 15.
About Ahmad
Amir has over 25 years of experience advising on debt and finance-related matters across the globe. He has been based in Dubai for over 15 years, and his practice spans the full cycle of special situations, restructuring and insolvency and event-driven opportunities.
Amir has been involved in the majority of notable UAE restructurings, either advising creditors, the company, regulators, shareholders or other stakeholders. He has advised on a number of first-of-its-kind matters in this field, including delivering an unprecedented result and a regional first in a contentious DMCC restructure and liquidation. He has also been the lead adviser on the liquidation of one of the largest regional digital assets exchanges. He is currently a key adviser to the board and RESCOM and also to the management team of the second-largest healthcare provider in the UAE in relation to its restructuring plan.
Amir has authored the UAE chapter of the 10th and 11th editions of the Insolvency Review, covering the ADGM, the DIFC and Mainland UAE.
Amir is part of a select group of industry participants who are advising the UAE Ministry of Finance on the new UAE Insolvency Law, which will come into force in 2024.
Finance Middle East Awards
The inaugural Finance Middle East Awards will debut on May 15. It will gather over 200 leading banking and finance executives to celebrate outstanding achievements within the DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre) and the wider GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region.
An independent panel of expert judges will decide on the winners in each of the 15 categories. The winning nominees will be announced during a gala dinner celebration at a luxurious venue in May.
Submitting nominations is free; executives have until March 29 to enter the awards. Shortlisted nominees will be announced in April, and the winners will be crowned on May 15.
