Lulu Retail to join FTSE Global Equity Index Series after June review

Index inclusion can enhance stock liquidity and attract additional foreign investor participation.

Lulu Retail Company will be added to the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (FTSE GEIS) from June 23, 2025, subject to any changes confirmed by FTSE Russell before June 6, the index provider announced following its latest review.

Lulu will be included in the FTSE Mid Cap, FTSE All-World, FTSE All-Cap, and FTSE Total-Cap indices. These indices are widely tracked by global institutional investors and often drive passive fund flows.

The move follows Lulu’s initial public offering in the fourth quarter of 2024, which drew interest from domestic, regional, and international investors.

Lulu CEO Saifee Rupawala said the inclusion reflects the company’s growing role in the global retail sector and strengthens access to long-term international capital.

Index inclusion can enhance stock liquidity and attract additional foreign investor participation. Funds tracking the FTSE indices are expected to adjust their holdings ahead of the effective date based on the index weight assigned to Lulu.

Lulu’s expansion strategy has included new partnerships, including a deal with Dubai’s Endowment and Minors Trust Foundation in April to open new hypermarkets and supermarkets across the emirate.

The FTSE GEIS review comes amid broader investor focus on the GCC’s evolving equity landscape, with IPO activity and index upgrades drawing sustained foreign capital inflows.
