Saudi capital market assets under management surpass SAR 1 trillion in 2024

The CMA handled 121 cases in 2024, awarding over SAR 389 million in compensation to 921 beneficiaries.

Assets under management (AUM) in Saudi Arabia’s capital market exceeded SAR 1 trillion by the end of 2024, marking a 20.9% increase from the previous year, according to the Capital Market Authority’s (CMA) 2024 Annual Report.

The number of investment funds rose to 1,549, with subscribers in public and private funds surpassing 1.72 million, a 47% increase compared to 2023.

The total value of listed sukuk and debt instruments reached SAR 663.5 billion, up from SAR 549.8 billion at the end of 2023, reflecting a 20.6% growth.

The CMA approved 60 public offering applications, a 36.4% rise from the previous year, including 40 in the Parallel Market and 16 in the Main Market. A total of 44 listings were completed across both markets.

Net foreign investments reached SAR 218 billion, a 10.1% increase from 2023. Foreign ownership value rose to SAR 423 billion, representing 11% of the total free float shares in the Main Market.

The number of licensed capital market institutions increased to 186. Their revenues grew 29.6% to SAR 17 billion, while profits rose 39.3% to SAR 8.8 billion.

Saudi Arabia ranked first among G20 countries in several financial market indicators, including the Capital Market Index, Stock Market Capitalization Index, Shareholders’ Rights Index, and Venture Capital Index, per the 2024 World Competitiveness Yearbook by the International Institute for Management Development.

The CMA handled 121 cases in 2024, awarding over SAR 389 million in compensation to 921 beneficiaries. The average litigation period decreased to 4.4 months from 5.5 months in 2023. The CMA issued enforceable decisions against 171 violators and followed up on 45 enforcement requests.

CMA Chairman Mohammed bin Abdullah Elkuwaiz stated that the authority approved its strategic plan for 2024–2026, focusing on activating the capital market’s role in financing and investment, empowering the capital market ecosystem, and protecting investor rights.
