Aldar has introduced a sustainability incentive programme aligned with the National In-Country Value (ICV) Programme, offering suppliers financial and non-financial benefits.

The programme assesses contractors using a rating system based on sustainability data, recycling rates, renewable energy usage, and carbon emissions intensity. Additional criteria include eliminating single-use plastics, implementing employee wellness programmes, and adhering to Aldar’s low-carbon materials policy.

Announced during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, Aldar signed a collaborative agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT).

Suppliers are encouraged to obtain the MoIAT-issued ICV certificate, qualifying them during the tender process. Eligibility requires meeting specific sustainability and worker welfare criteria. Participants in the Real Estate Climate Pledge, established by Aldar and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, will receive additional benefits. Over 70 members have joined this initiative in the past two years.

Each sustainability factor contributes to the supplier’s overall score, determining incentives such as monetary bonuses, training opportunities, recognition, expedited payments, and advantages in future tenders.

Salama Al Awadhi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Industrial Development at MoIAT, stated, “The National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology (Operation 300bn) focuses on enhancing sustainability within the industrial and service sectors as one of its key pillars supporting the UAE’s net-zero objectives.” She noted the expansion of the National ICV Programme to 31 participating entities and over 6,500 companies obtaining the ICV certificate, with more than 8,000 certificates issued in 2024, up from 7,000 in 2023.
