Saudi Aramco and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) have signed a Venture Framework Agreement to advance the expansion of the Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining Company (Yasref) petrochemical complex in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.
The proposed expansion includes the construction of a mixed-feed steam cracker with an annual capacity of 1.8 million metric tons and an aromatics complex with a capacity of 1.5 million metric tons. These facilities will be integrated into the existing Yasref refinery, which currently processes 400,000 barrels per day of Arabian heavy crude oil.
