Dubai has presented an ambitious plan to enhance its rural and countryside areas, focusing on sustainability and tourism.
In line with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s leadership has approved a comprehensive development plan for its countryside and rural areas. The project, spearheaded by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will see 37 projects undertaken over the next five years, with a total investment of around AED390 million (approximately $106 million).
The development aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and aims to provide sustainable environments with integrated services. Key highlights include the Saih Al Salam Scenic Route, featuring five tourist stations and extensive cycling tracks, aiming to boost tourism from half a million to over three million visitors annually by 2040.
The plan includes diverse facilities such as traditional markets, luxury camping, and adventure parks, developed in partnership with the private sector. Moreover, the first phase introduces 18 new services, including nurseries, parks, healthcare facilities and social centres for residents.
HH Sheikh Hamdan said: “The master plan for the Saih Al Salam Scenic Route and Dubai Countryside and Rural Areas Development Projects reflects the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aiming to transform Dubai’s rural areas and countryside to be among the best, most beautiful, and enjoyable for all.
“This contributes to solidifying the emirate’s position as an ideal destination to live and work, as well as a preferred attraction for visitors from around the world.
These projects are part of a 20-year blueprint to enhance the quality of life, attract tourists, and expand investment opportunities while preserving the unique nature and identity of Dubai’s rural areas.
