Dubai Chamber of Commerce has unveiled a new Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Label to encourage sustainable business practices, coinciding with the UAE’s ‘Year of Sustainability’.
The label, developed by the chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business, is intended to help organizations assess their ESG readiness and maturity, gain recognition, and foster business growth.
The framework was created with input from globally recognized ESG experts as well as business leaders, to ensure it aligns with global best practices and meets both local and international ESG reporting standards.
“The Dubai Chamber of Commerce ESG Label addresses the need for a holistic approach to sustainable business practices that benefit society and the environment, while also supporting our mission to promote good governance and ethical business practices,” said Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers.
“By shifting the emphasis from corporate social responsibility to ESG labelling, we aim to encourage businesses to adopt comprehensive strategies that embed sustainability into their core operations and decision-making processes.”
Eligible organisations, which must have been established for at least two years, can apply for the label. The framework benchmarks ESG practices against key parameters and peer companies both regionally and globally.
The successful applicants will benefit from alignment with ESG best practices, enhanced brand image, and increased value for potential investors.
Participating organizations will receive a feedback report highlighting areas for improvement and a maturity level score based on their overall ESG rating.
The ESG Label certificate is valid for one year.
