Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced a 16.8% increase in digital revenues for 2023, reaching Dh3.705 billion.
The rise is attributed to the growing adoption of digital services, with transactions through RTA’s platforms reaching 821 million, marking a 1% increase from the previous year.
During the course of 2023, smart app transactions grew by 29%, with 15.299 million transactions recorded by the RTA. The real-time happiness indicator for RTA’s apps improved by 2%, now exceeding 95%.
RTA’s Director General, Mattar Al Tayer, highlighted the authority’s commitment to digital transformation. In 2023, registered users on RTA’s digital service channels increased by 20%, reaching 1.404 million. The RTA apps were downloaded over 3 million times.
“RTA’s digital transformation is guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance the quality of life in Dubai and make it the best city in the world to live in,” Al Tayed said.
RTA embraces AI
in 2023, the organisation introduced several initiatives to incorporate new technologies into its digital services. These included an upgraded Mahboob Chatbot using ChatGPT technology, enhancing user interaction and data protection, as well as the introduction of advanced smart kiosks and redesigned customer experiences for 42 services, resulting in over Dh309 million in additional revenues.
Updates to the RTA Dubai app include AI-powered parking predictions and an NFC-based nol card top-up service. The Dubai Drive app now offers vehicle plate transfer services and UAE PASS login for secure access.
RTA’s S’hail app has been updated to include features for bicycle and e-scooter lanes, taxi stands, and event information. The app’s journey planner feature facilitated 18 million planned journeys in 2023.
Additionally, RTA unveiled 63 new services on its website and integrated services with the Dubai Now app, enhancing the digital experience for customers.
