The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) and e& money have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide wage protection services for domestic workers via the e& money platform. The initiative brings the Wage Protection System (WPS) within reach of employers of domestic staff and aligns with the UAE’s cashless economy agenda.

Under the agreement, MOHRE’s WPS application programming interfaces are integrated into the e& money app. Employers can register domestic employees through the app’s MOHRE services section. Once a domestic worker is registered, their name and salary details appear automatically, enabling direct, compliant salary transfers. Wage data remains documented through full system integration.

Domestic workers will receive IBANs, digital wallets and Mastercard prepaid cards. e& money provides a free introductory card for up to two employees per employer and offers competitive exchange rates for international transfers.

According to Dalal Alshehhi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Protection at MOHRE, the partnership expands WPS to domestic workers, ensuring secure and timely salary payments in line with regulations. Melike Kara, CEO of e& money, said the integration of the WPS model into the platform will improve accessibility for employers and workers and enhance trust across the financial ecosystem.

WPS has recently been extended to include domestic workers by the UAE government to improve payment transparency and protect worker rights. Prior to the MoU, employers could pay domestic workers electronically via approved institutions, but the integration with e& money offers streamlined access from a single app.
