Salik Company PJSC, Dubai’s exclusive toll gate operator has announced it will introduce variable pricing on Salik toll roads by the end of January 2025.
The new pricing system has been introduced at the request of the Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) based on studies that indicated a need for implementing such a system, alongside tariff exemptions during certain periods.
The introduction of variable pricing aims to enhance traffic flow across Dubai’s Road networks and improve transportation efficiency across the city,
The Salik variable pricing structure will be as follows:
- Peak hours (6:00 to 10:00 am / 4:00 to 8:00 pm): Dh6
- Off-peak hours (10:00 am to 4:00 pm / 8:00 pm to 1:00 am: Dh4
- After midnight (1:00 to 6:00 am): toll-free
Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad, CEOP of Salik, commented on the decision, stating: “Road and Transport Authority (RTA) studies have clearly indicated the need for the implementation of variable pricing across Dubai’s toll road network. The instruction Salik has received today, is expected to improve the travel experience of road users in Dubai.”
Based on initial projections, the new pricing model is expected to generate an additional revenue between Dh60 million to Dh110 million on an annual basis.
