Fuel prices in the UAE have been adjusted for August 2025, with petrol rates continuing their downward trajectory while diesel records a modest rise after months of decline. The new prices, released by the UAE Fuel Price Committee, come amid a broader trend of stabilising domestic fuel costs following a spike in the first quarter.

For August, Super 98 is priced at Dh2.69 per litre, down from Dh2.70 in July and marking a gradual decrease from its February peak of Dh2.74. Special 95, the most commonly used petrol grade, dropped further to Dh2.57 from Dh2.58 in July, reflecting a steady easing of prices since February when it stood at Dh2.63. E-Plus 91 also declined slightly to Dh2.50 from Dh2.51.

Diesel was the only category to register an increase, rising to Dh2.78 in August from Dh2.63 in July. This follows a four-month decline from a high of Dh2.82 in February to Dh2.45 in June, a 13% drop during that period. July’s increase appears to mark a partial rebound, with August’s figure consolidating that trend.

Compared with prices in January, the market has seen significant volatility. Diesel rose from Dh2.68 to Dh2.82 by February before falling back. Petrol prices also peaked early in the year, then moderated. Special 95, for example, has dropped by six fils since January, while E-Plus 91 fell by five fils over the same period.

Fuel prices in the UAE are revised monthly based on international oil movements, refining costs, and local distribution margins. The recent adjustments come as global oil benchmarks remain relatively steady, with Brent crude averaging between $79 and $84 per barrel since late Q2, supported by OPEC+ supply constraints and subdued demand growth.

While petrol prices have shown relative stability since April, diesel’s reversal in July and August indicates renewed volatility. The UAE Fuel Price Committee is expected to announce the next price update at the end of August.
