Saudi Arabia launches AI League with SAR 1 million prize to drive sports innovation

The competition is designed to support Saudi Arabia’s preparations to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

The Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI) has launched the AI League, a virtual competition to integrate advanced technologies into the sports sector, from February 10 to the end of April 2025. The competition offers a total prize pool of SAR 1 million.

The initiative, supported by the Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), focuses on fostering innovation, improving data-driven decision-making, and optimising operational efficiency within sports. The AI League will target key areas, including match strategy optimisation, smart sports venues, talent discovery, and sports broadcasting and media advancements.

Mubarak Alwadaani, Chief Commercial Officer at SCAI, said, “With the AI League, SCAI is fostering a dynamic environment where innovation thrives, leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies to propel the sports sector forward. This initiative aligns with Vision 2030’s goal of reshaping the global sports landscape through innovation and excellence.”

The competition is also designed to support Saudi Arabia’s preparations to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup by promoting AI applications that enhance fan engagement and overall sports performance. SCAI emphasised its role in positioning the Kingdom as a global hub for AI and advanced technology solutions.
