Airlines faced fresh disruption in the early hours of this morning as Israel and Iran exchange new strikes citing disagreements over the political settlement in Lebanon.

Iran launched new strikes on Israel citing the latest military incursion into Lebanon. Israel cites its right to defend residents in northern Israel, publicly declaring its aim to permanently disarm Hezbollah, while Iran claims it’s right to defend the ‘Lebanese people.’

Both parties disagree on the political settlement in Lebanon.

Airspace Disruptions

Flights across Syria, Iraq, and Iran were forced to reroute. Iraq’s airspace will remain closed for a total period of 72 hours citing the local aviation authority announced on Sunday night.

The authority also denied reports that a civilian aircraft had crashed inside its territory airspace, saying “no such incident had been recorded”.
