Dhofar Islamic, the Islamic banking window of BankDhofar, is launching its new Braille-designed debit card for visually impaired customers.
The initiative is aimed at enabling customers with visual impairments to access banking services with greater ease and independence, while reflecting Dhofar Islamic’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity.
Dhofar Islamic’s Measures
According to Dhofar Islamic, these features help safeguard privacy and reduce reliance on others.
They also facilitate the daily use of the card at ATMs and point-of-sale terminals, while minimising errors and enhancing transaction security.
The initiative forms part of Dhofar Islamic’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility and its role in promoting the integration of people with disabilities into society. It is also aligned with national efforts to empower these groups and global best practices for accessibility in financial services.
To support the rollout, Dhofar Islamic has implemented training programmes for branch staff at all levels. The programmes are designed to ensure staff are equipped to assist customers throughout the card application process and provide immediate activation support.
Ethics in Islamic Finance
Dhofar Islamic is committed to fostering a banking environment where all individuals feel respected, empowered and confident in pursuing their financial aspirations.
With the launch of the Braille debit card, Dhofar Islamic said it is renewing its commitment to putting people at the heart of its services and delivering banking solutions that make a meaningful, positive impact on customers’ lives.
The launch comes as Dhofar Islamic continues to expand its presence across Oman.
Omani Expansion
Recently, the bank expanded its branch network to more than 30 branches across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
The expanded network enables Dhofar Islamic to offer a comprehensive range of banking products and services to all segments of society — from children and minors, youth and women, to entrepreneurs and holders of Al Riffa and Al Riyada cards — meeting their diverse banking needs through a flexible and reliable approach.
