In video: OpenAI and G42 to build 5GW AI data centre in Abu Dhabi in major global expansion

The facility will be powered by nuclear, solar, and natural gas energy sources to minimise carbon emissions.

OpenAI is partnering with Abu Dhabi’s G42 to develop one of the world’s largest AI data centres, delivering 5 gigawatts of power. The facility will anchor what is set to become the largest AI campus outside the US, reinforcing the UAE’s ambition to become a global leader in AI. The deal coincides with US President Donald Trump’s recent Gulf visit, which saw several AI-focused agreements between American tech firms and regional governments.
