AviLease, a company owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), has acquired a Boeing 787-9 aircraft from Babcock & Brown Aircraft Management (BBAM), a global lessor with $18 billion in aviation assets under management.
This marks the first collaboration between AviLease and BBAM, expanding AviLease’s fleet and introducing a new airline customer from the Americas to its portfolio.
AviLease CEO Edward O’Byrne said, “This transaction with BBAM is the beginning of a strong trading partnership. The Boeing 787-9, with its fuel efficiency and advanced technology, aligns with our investment strategy and enhances our portfolio yield.”
BBAM CEO Steve Zissis added, “We are pleased to partner with AviLease on this deal and look forward to future collaborations as AviLease expands its role as a significant lessor to global airlines.”
