HSBC Holdings Plc appointed Jack Yang as CFO for Asia and the Middle East in the latest shift in the C-suite for the lender, following the recent appointment of Georges Elhedery as CEO in 2024.
Yang started his career at HSBC in 2009, serving as regional treasurer, before moving to the bank’s international wealth and premier banking unit. Yang succeeds Ming Lau as CFO.
The appointment is reported to become effective on 13 April.
Under Elhedery, the bank is cutting hierarchy and reducing costs through lay-offs, sell-offs and mergers.
Elhedery joined the bank as Group CFO in early 2023 before rising to CEO in September 2024.
