Emaar Properties is set to release a tender for the Dubai Creek Tower within the next three months, according to company founder Mohamed Alabbar.

This announcement at the Dubai International Project Management Forum follows several design revisions of the planned tower. Although details of the new design remain undisclosed, Alabbar has described it as “beautiful.”

Originally unveiled in 2016, the Dubai Creek Tower was conceived by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava Valls and initially pegged to surpass the 828 metre Burj Khalifa in height.

The previous design was inspired by the lily flower and traditional minarets, and it included multiple observation decks to offer panoramic views of Dubai Creek Harbour and the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary.

Construction began in July 2016 but soon encountered delays. Despite these setbacks, S&P Global Ratings projected Emaar could spend over AED14 billion ($3.81 billion) on the Creek Tower and Creek Mall developments.

While the exact changes to the design remain unspecified, the project is anticipated to be a significant component of Dubai Creek Harbour, a master development intended to advance the city’s commercial and residential landscape.

As Emaar prepares for the tender issuance, stakeholders are watching closely to see how the project progresses against its ambitious goals.
