Dubai records 16.79 million international tourists from January to November 2024

The average daily rate (ADR) for hotel rooms was Dh520, a 2% increase from Dh510 in 2023.

Dubai welcomed 16.79 million international tourists between January and November 2024, marking a 9% increase compared to 15.37 million visitors during the same period in 2023, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism’s Performance Report.

The monthly breakdown shows 1.83 million tourists visited in November, followed by 1.77 million in January, 1.9 million in February, 1.51 million in March, 1.5 million in April, and 1.44 million in May. Numbers dipped to 1.19 million in June before rebounding with 1.31 million tourists in both July and August. September saw 1.36 million visitors, and October recorded 1.67 million tourists.

Western Europe remained the top source region for tourists, contributing 3.3 million visitors, or 20% of the total. South Asia followed with 2.86 million tourists (17%), while GCC countries accounted for 2.5 million tourists (15%). CIS and Eastern Europe contributed 2.35 million visitors (14%), and the Middle East and North Africa brought in 1.93 million visitors (12%). Visitors from North East and South East Asia totalled 1.62 million (10%).

Tourists from the Americas numbered 1.12 million, making up 7% of the total, while African visitors accounted for 791,000 (5%), and Australia contributed 319,000 tourists (2%).

By the end of November, Dubai had 153,390 hotel rooms across 828 hospitality establishments, up from 149,685 rooms in 820 establishments in 2023. Hotel room bookings reached 39.19 million during the first 11 months of 2024, a 3% increase from 38.01 million in 2023.

The average guest stay was 3.6 nights. Five-star hotels accounted for 53,977 rooms across 168 properties (35% of total rooms). Four-star hotels offered 43,345 rooms in 194 establishments, while one- to three-star hotels provided 29,701 rooms in 278 establishments. Luxury hotel apartments had 13,944 rooms across 80 properties, and mid-range hotel apartments offered 12,423 rooms in 108 establishments.

The average daily rate (ADR) for hotel rooms was Dh520, a 2% increase from Dh510 in 2023. Revenue per available room (RevPAR) rose 3% to Dh405, up from Dh394 during the same period in 2023.
