The value of gold reserves held by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) reached Dh 20.62 billion by the end of May 2024, reflecting a significant year-on-year growth of 19.7% from AED 17.219 billion in May 2023.
In its Monthly Statistical Bulletin – Banking & Monetary Statistics for May 2024, the apex bank reported that gold reserves saw a monthly increase of 1.3% from Dh20.36 billion in April 2024.
The UAE’s gold reserves have shown substantial growth over recent years, climbing to Dh12.86 billion by the end of 2020 from Dh4.44 billion at the end of 2019, and Dh1.13 billion in 2018.
