Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) has announced the selection of 10 startups for the second cohort of the MIT DesignX Dubai Accelerator (MDXB). This initiative, launched in September 2023, is a collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Global Growth Hub (GGH).

The accelerator programme, which runs until May 2025 at the Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Campus (Dtec), follows a curriculum designed by MIT and features workshops, business design sessions, and mentorship from local industry experts, MIT alumni, and MIT student interns. The initiative aims to help startups refine their business models and scale their solutions.

A Demo Day scheduled for January 30, 2025, will mark the conclusion of the programme, bringing together stakeholders, investors, and industry peers. The event will also feature the announcement of the winning startup from the second cohort.

The selected startups represent a range of countries, including those from Europe, the US, and the GCC, and focus on sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. Their solutions span sectors such as hydrogen technology, emissions reduction, waste management, and energy storage.

The cohort includes:

  • Protium Technologies: Focuses on hydrogen detection, water treatment, and bio-hydrogen solutions.
  • Kanz: An AI-driven platform that personalises and aggregates financing applications.
  • PeykBot: Designs and operates autonomous, AI-powered robots for last-mile delivery.
  • Bilqis GreenTech: Provides waste management solutions aimed at improving recycling and reducing environmental impact.
  • Travel Indigenous: Offers eco-friendly, indigenous-led travel experiences in the UAE and Oman.
  • Circa Biotech: Converts organic waste into resources such as insect protein, biodiesel, and organic fertiliser.
  • Net0: Delivers AI-powered carbon accounting software to help organisations measure and reduce their carbon emissions.
  • EcoConnect: Assists businesses in ethical procurement and supplier management.
  • Theion: Develops sustainable lithium-sulfur batteries for mobility and energy storage applications.

The MDXB programme reflects efforts to enhance Dubai’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and contribute to sustainable innovation, aligning with the objectives of Dubai’s Vision for sustainable economic development.
