Dubai companies invest $1.4 billion in China

UAE investors have showcased growing interest in China, fueled by enhanced trade exchanges and mutual investment potential.

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers., highlighted that Dubai-based companies have invested $1.4 billion in China from 2015 to 2023, in a conversation with Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the โ€˜Dubai Business Forum โ€“ Chinaโ€™.

Lootah stressed that around 5,400 Chinese companies were registered with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce by the end of H1 2024, with 742 new companies established this year, marking a 12% growth.

Notably, he said that both nations are working to boost cooperation across various sectors, including new economy, technology, entrepreneurship, tourism, SMEs, energy, renewable energy, agriculture, aviation, logistics, infrastructure, and industry.

Chinese companies have traditionally focused on trade, logistics, and business consulting in Dubai, but there is now growing interest in emerging sectors such as AI, green technologies, data centres, Web 3, and the necessary infrastructure to support these sectors. These sectors are expected to see significant growth in Dubai.

The Dubai Business Forum held in China was the first international edition, showcasing Dubai’s role in offering attractive investment opportunities to Chinese companies and fostering stronger economic ties.
