Dragon Oil, a Dubai Government-owned company, inaugurated its largest regional office in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. It was accompanied by a delegation from the Turkmenistan Government led by Guvanch Agajanov, Chairman of the SC Turkmennebit.
The ceremony saw the presence of Rashid Al Jarwan, Dragon Oil’s CEO, Maksat Pirliyev, NAPECO’s General Director, Sulaiman Al Zahmi, Deputy Ambassador of the UAE to Turkmenistan, and representatives from Petronas Turkmenistan, Mitro International, and other firms.
The establishment of this office signifies a pivotal stride for the company, aligning with its strategic objectives. Dragon Oil’s entry into the blue hydrogen sector by 2029 and plans to boost investments, augmenting oil production capacity in Turkmenistan, presently at around 60,000 barrels per day, and venturing into renewable energy projects.

With aspirations to elevate production from 180,000 to 250,000 barrels daily by late 2025, Dragon Oil’s efforts have garnered notable attention from Turkmenistan.
Al Jarwan highlighted Turkmenistan’s historical significance in the oil industry and emphasised the new office’s purpose in fostering cooperation. He noted the office’s comprehensive facilities and integrated management across departments dedicated to serving the 2,000-strong workforce in Turkmenistan.
The company’s focus in Turkmenistan revolves around ramping up oil production, aiming to completely halt gas flaring by 2027, fostering sustainability, curbing carbon emissions, and safeguarding the marine environment.
